What would you like your character's tag to be?: neal cassidy
Answer the following questions in no less than 300 words but no greater than 1000 words put together...
Character's background (their past and present): He was born in a place called the Enchanted Forest, the son of a spinner, Rumpelstiltskin, and a housewife, Milah. His mother named him Baelfire, and his father called him Bae. When he was young, his father came home one day and told him that his mother had died. So then it was just the two of them, until it was Baelfire's turn to go off to war. Desperate to keep from being parted from his son, his father looked for a way out. What he found was magic. His father became the Dark One, feared by everyone, but he also became dependent on magic. This drove a wedge between the two of them, and eventually Baelfire looked for a solution. He found a magic bean that could take them to a land without magic, where they could be together and his father could lose his magic without dying. When it came time to go, though, his father chickened out and let go of his hand, causing him to fall through the portal alone.
He arrived in London, where he spent six months living on the streets until a family named the Darlings took him in. He lived with them for a time until a shadow came and took him away to a place called Neverland, where he met a man named Captain Hook who told Bae that his mother had run off with him and his father had killed her. Bae left Captain Hook's ship and ended up on the island in the custody of Peter Pan, who allowed no one to leave.
Eventually he did leave, and he reemerged in the land without magic. He established a new identity as Neal Cassidy, and he again turned to petty thievery and odd jobs to survive. When he stole some watches from a jewelry store in Phoenix, he had to leave town, and ended up in Portland, Oregon. In Portland he met a woman named Emma Swan when she stole the car he had already stolen, and they formed a relationship. He and Emma were just talking about finding a place to settle permanently and he was planning on fencing the watches to give them some seed money when his past caught up with him. A man came to him and told him that there was a curse that needed to be broken, and that Emma was the one who had to break it. Neal was convinced that the best thing to do was to leave her, so he turned her into the police and let her take the fall for the stolen watches. What he didn't know was that she was pregnant at the time.
After leaving Portland, he eventually made his way to New York and established a life there. He straightened out when he got there, and has a legitimate job and an apartment. Recently he met a woman named Tamara, and they are currently engaged.
Character's personality: The main aspects of Neal's personality stem from his abandonment issues. He's never really had a family, so it's the one thing he's wanted for his whole life. The fact that he himself was abandoned has given him some guilt over doing the same thing to Emma, and this guilt will only get worse once he realizes he also abandoned the son he never knew about. His sparse childhood, followed by a life of moving from place to place and his subsequent years of avoiding being found by his father have taught him how to hide and how to make do with what's available.
He's determined not to make the same mistakes his father did. He sees magic as the source of all the problems between him and his father, and dislikes what he sees as his father's excessive use of it. He's essentially a good man, he just sometimes has a problem with doing the right thing. When it comes right down to it, for a family member, he will do anything within his power. If there's someone he thinks he can trust, he will defend them no matter what, and once someone loses his trust, he has a hard time trusting them again.
Character's skills/abilities/powers: He has no extraordinary abilities, though he can use magic to a limited extent (blood magic, when it relates to something done by his father). Magic is not “in his blood,” so it is not a natural-born ability for him.
Any special equipment your character is bringing along? This includes weaponry, magic items, etc.: All he's bringing with him is the clothes on his back and what's in his pockets: wallet with ID and cash/credit cards and his keys.

If you answered yes above, briefly summarize how they were changed by and what challenges they faced in the climate of their previous game(s):
Why do you want to play this character in Ten Forward, and what do you plan to do with them? For a time after he reemerged in the land without magic, he lived a life of going from place to place, but he was never in one quite like Ten Forward. It would be interesting to see how he reacts to life in a place like this, especially when he can't return to his life right away. There are also two others from his canon already in the game, both from canon points different from his. One is his father and the other is his son. This has the potential to lead to interesting development, especially given the differing ways he and his father will view their relationship. I see this was a way to explore their changing relationship in a way other than how it happened on the show.

You can run from your past as much as you like, but eventually it will catch up with you.
If he were to be honest with himself, he'd been expecting something to happen ever since he got the postcard from August, the postcard with a single word: 'Broken.' That doesn't mean he was ready for it when it happened.
First there was the ring of the buzzer and the words "UPS delivery." The first thought through his mind was I'm not expecting a package from UPS, then came the realization This has something to do with my father. Then he grabbed his keys and was down the fire escape.
The next thing he knew he was being pursued. By a woman, was all he could tell. Probably the one who had rung the buzzer.
He runs. Runs like prey being hunted by predator, like his life depends on it. Maybe it does; his father is a dangerous man whose actions have consequences just like anyone else's.
He won't put himself in a position to be the reason his father does anything. Not anymore.
Just as he's tiring, running out of breath to keep going, he turns a corner and...comes to an abrupt stop. There's green everywhere, and some of it doesn't look like anything he's seen on Earth. And out those windows there, is that...space?
He's not in New York anymore.
